Biological Species in Pleurotus

Literature on Fruiting, Edibility, etc.
So much of this literature is untrustworthy for its cavalier use of names (i.e. glaring in this way are the numerous papers on commercial culture of Pleurotus "sajor-caju," long-since proven to be a species of Lentinus) that it is hardly mentioned here. Papers from developing nations abound in reports of biomass yield of Pleurotus on a spectrum of substrates, perhaps of some value to their local situation, but with little taxonomic credibility. The papers by Buchanan (1993) and Royse (1997) are instructive, and the publications by Chang and Miles (1989, 1991) are somewhat more rigorous than others.
