Dirk Krueger
My PhD project is a monographic study of the genus Polyporus - stipitate polypores. This includes both intercompatibility studies and molecular phylogenetics.
My polyPO/Re. site site is now under construction.
I joined the Knoxville Mycology labs in 1998 as a new Ph.D. student of Prof. Petersen.
I was born and raised in Neustrelitz, Mecklenburg, Germany. Quite early I had great interest in biology, and especially mycology.
My first 3 years of academic life I spent at Göttingen's Georgia Augusta University. In 1994/95 I spent a year at Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John's. There I worked in the GEMS lab with Prof. Egger (fungal ecology using molecular techniques).
My graduate diploma from Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald was titled "Investigations on the molecular taxonomy of selected gasteroid fungi", and was supervised by Prof. Kreisel. Part of the research was done in Prof. Bresinsky's / Dr. Fischer's Molecular Mycology Lab at Regensburg University.
