Advanced Microscopy and Imaging Center

Welcome to the Advanced Microscopy and Imaging Center at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The Center is a multi-user, multi-disciplinary facility that provides microscopy and imaging services in support of teaching and research for students, faculty and staff at UTK. The Center was developed and is supported by the Division of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Material Sciences in the College of Engineering and the Joint Institute for Applied Material. The Center provides microscopy services to academic units on the main UTK campus, the Institute of Agriculture, the College of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Tennessee Medical Research Center and Hospital, Knoxville. The strength of the Center lies both in the collection of instrumentation and the technical expertise of faculty and staff associated with the facility.

The Center is a 5500 sq ft. research laboratory located in the Science and Engineering Research Facility on the main campus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. It houses instrumentation for; transmission and scanning electron microscopy, optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy. For the experienced microscopist the Center is an instrument resource. For the novice user, the Center offers complete technical support, individual training and courses that cover both the practical applications and physical principles of microscopy.
