Message from the Head
The BCMB department is home to a team of faculty, graduate students and research staff who are forging new territory in addressing problems in modern biology. We have more than 350 undergraduate majors who are actively engaged in our classes and research laboratories. Undergraduate research is one of the centerpieces of our department, and we are committed to providing meaningful research experiences for all undergraduates who are interested. We also host a summer research program that attracts students from across the country. Our strengths are in structural and computational biology, plant and microbial biology, and cell biology and genetics. The departmental web page is provided as a service to prospective students, existing students and faculty, alumni and partners from the community. Here you will find recent highlights on faculty and student achievements and other news from BCMB, advertisements for our weekly seminars, information about undergraduate scholarship and research opportunities, and details about our graduate program. Take time to peruse our research pages to learn about the variety and depth of our scholarship. If you desire additional information or have suggestions for other information you would like to find on our web pages, please feel free to contact me.
